Donald Frederick Huber Sr. Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Donald Frederick Huber, Sr. passed away on Wednesday, January 26, 2022 in Folsom, Louisiana at the age of 77 years old. He was born in New Orleans and lived in Folsom, Louisiana most of his life. Don served in the United States Navy. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #10176 where he made many friends. Don had many talents. Don was a member of the Louisiana State Barbers Association. He was a seasoned barber and cherished his customers. “Don the Barber” viewed his customers as a second family; he loved “his people.” Don was an avid sportsman and taxidermist in his younger years which later sparked his passion for carving and painting decoys. Don was a member of the Louisiana Wildlife Carvers and Collectors Guild. He competed in numerous Ward World Championship Competitions where he won many divisions including 1st place Best in Show. Don won first in the World Waterfowl Carving Championships in Ocean City, Maryland which was his sixth blue ribbon at the time. In addition, he won several best in show awards in the Gulf South and North American Championships to his credit. Don was noted as “the Michelangelo of the marshes” and his friends and family considered him always positive and a great encourager. Don was a loving husband of the late Gloria Conner Huber and son of the late John Thomas Huber, Jr., and Pearl Francois Huber. He was a devoted father of Donald F. Huber, Jr. (Angie), and Dawn Huber Kieffer (Ricky). He was an exceptional grandfather of Tiffany Kieffer-Binns (Devlin) and Tara Kieffer Bodine (Ben). Don was also a loving great grandfather to Analea Markeson, Liam Bodine, Graham and Gabby Binns, Cullen Binns, and Sawyer Binns. He leaves behind a host of family and friends. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Memorial Service for both Donald and his late beloved wife Gloria at Serenity Funeral Home, 20419 Hwy. 36, Covington, LA, on Friday, February 11, 2022 at 11:30 AM with gathering time beginning at 10:30 AM. Inurnment to follow at Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Slidell at 1:00 PM.
