Ashton Philip Rupert passed away on Thursday, April 29, 2021 in Covington, LA at the age of 81. He was born in New Orleans, LA and lived in New Orleans for most of his life. Ashton was a devoted family man, proud US Marine, Successful small business owner and master mechanic. He enjoyed building and driving his award winning 1941 Ford pickup and 1940 Packard. He was known for his culinary skills and his love of entertaining. A lifelong LSU Tigers and New Orleans Saints fan. He never met a stranger and had a contagious, infectious laugh that made everyone else smile. Loving husband of Hazel Ann Wonycott for 43 years, and spouse of the late Mary Ziegler Rupert. Son of Walter “Pops” and Edris “Mumsey” Rupert. Devoted father of Kevin (Maria), Craig (Trish), and Brad (Shanda). Brother of Walter, Jr. (Doody), David, Stephen, Edris (Tootie), Raymond, and Jon. Grandfather of Kendal Cochran, Alexa Bryant, Remy Rupert, Grant Rupert, Jase Rupert, Ashlyn Rupert, Jake Rupert, and Hudson Rupert. Great Grandfather of Marley Majors, and Evan Cochran. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at Trace Memory Care and Passages Hospice for their compassion and care of Ashton. Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 501 Holy Trinity Dr., Covington, LA 70433 on Saturday, May 15, 2021. Visitation begins at 10:30 AM and Mass begins at 11:30 AM. In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations in Ashton’s memory to Brother Martin High School Ashton P. and Mary Z.
