Anna Mae Fertitta Lafont

Anna Mae Fertitta Lafont passed away on Thursday, February 25, 2021 at the age of 88. She was born in Kenner, LA, was a resident of Kenner, Golden Meadow, Metairie, and Mandeville. She resided in Abita Springs, LA for the past seven years. Ann was the devoted wife for 42 years to her loving husband, Elie “Lee” Lafont. She is also preceded in death by her son Lee Lafont, her parents Salvador Fertitta, Sr. and Viola Lewis Brower, her brother Salvador “Bud” Fertitta, Jr., her brother-in-law James Martin, and her longtime companion Rene Piegts. Better known to her friends as “Ann”, she was a fan of LSU and Saints football, Pelicans basketball, and TB Lightning hockey. She enjoyed music and dancing. She made and sold many beautifully crocheted afghans, loved jigsaw puzzles, crossword puzzles, and watching old movies, especially westerns. She was a remarkable homemaker, cook, and seamstress. She was most proud of the many years caring for her family and raising her children. Her memory will be cherished by her daughters Kathy Seidel (Walter), and Karen Mascaro (Charles), daughter-in-law Lisa Lafont, brother Joseph Fertitta (Marian), sister Elizabeth Martin (James, deceased), Grandchildren Kristin Lamb (William), Kevin Seidel (Lauren), Lawrence Mascaro, Jordan Lafont (Kelli), and Jared Lafont (Abby). She also took great pride in her four great grandchildren, Avery Lamb, Ethan Lamb, Aiden Lafont, and Makenzy Lafont. Her gentle and loving way will make her greatly missed by all who knew her. Family and friends are welcome to join in a Celebration of Life Mass for Ann on Friday, May 14, 2021 at St. Jane de Chantal Catholic Church, 72040 Maple St., Abita Springs, LA 70420. Visitation will begin at 11:00 and Mass at 12:00 Noon. Inurnment will take place Saturday, May 15, beginning at 11:00 at Metairie Cemetery, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd, New Orleans, LA 70124. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in her name at www.stjude.org. Arrangements entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, Covington, LA.
