Joyce Mary Dunlap

Joyce Dunlap, (formerly Joyce Joyce), age 87 from New Orleans, LA, residing in Mandeville, LA, passed away on April 19, 2018 due to pneumonia. Born 11/13/1930. As an only child , she had a happy and healthy childhood with her pet chow, Spot, and all her life loved to take in stray kitties. She was married to Eugene Johnston from New Orleans, to Don Joyce Sr. (deceased) from Steubenville, Ohio and to John Hopkins (deceased) from Pensacola, Florida. Schooling was in New Orleans, Louisiana and Falmouth, Massachusetts. As a child, she was passionate about football and she experienced an exciting life as an NFL wife for 17 years, living in Chicago, IL, Baltimore, MD, Mahtomedi, MN, and Denver, CO, later traveling and fishing through the west and into Mexico and Latin America as well as Florida, including Key West. She loved to travel and football remained a large interest in her life. She was devoted to her family, both present and past, and spent as much of her time with them as she could. She enjoyed her friends and the people she worked with and appreciated those who helped her in her final days. Preceded in death by her mother, Thelma Coignard Dunlap James, father Fred Kimball Dunlap, stepfather Fred Otis James, aunt Bernadine Langenstein (Richard), cousin Brother Richard Langenstein, and son Bobby Joyce (Helen). Joyce is survived by two children, Cathy Joyce and Don Joyce Jr. (Bonita), four grandchildren, Stephanie Hill, Sunny Hill, Jessica Peterson (Dean), and Brandon Joyce, three great-grandchildren, Ashley Reid (Blake), Eden Hill and Ethan Peterson, one great-great grandchild, Rowan Reid. She was very close to her first cousin Linda Beshoner (Ed, Jr.), and her children, Eddie Beshoner, Kathy Chilcote (Andy), Drew Chilcote, not to forget pets: Princess and Lucy. Visitation will be Saturday, April 28, 2018, 1:00-3:00 with prayer service following at Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Mandeville.
