Dr. Ezra Clay-Kelly Boyd, PhD passed away in Mandeville, La on Sunday July 2nd, 2017. He was 40 years old. Dr. Boyd leaves behind his life partner of 11 years, Amy Adams-Thompson and her two children, Adam and Anna whom Ezra helped raise, his mother Janet Waggoner Boyd, two brothers Ben and Derek Randall, an Uncle Bobby and Aunt Betty Jo Boyd as well as his Uncle Paul and his Aunt Rochelle Waggoner. He is preceded in death by his father Richard Hugh Boyd. Dr. Boyd was a New Orleans native who went to elementary school in the French Quarter at McDonogh 15, later moved to Mandeville in his teens where he graduated from Mandeville High School. His secondary educational pursuits led him to the University of Chicago where he graduated with honors in 1999 with a BA in Astrophysics. In 2003 he graduated with honors from the University of New Orleans where he earned a MA in Political Science. Lastly in 2011 he graduated from LSU with a PhD in Hazard Geography and was on the Dean’s list.
